Here's What I'm Doing:
What do you love about travel? True travel is a passion, a pursuit of adventure, learning, experiencing and enjoyment. There is no glamour or glory in shuffling from airport to airport, hotel to meeting to hotel to airport, taking care of business rather than taking of your life.
Two things that fuel my fever for travel adventure: I didn't have a passport until I was father with3 children, and I grew up in Detroit, where most of the travel involved cars and a long trip meant a two-hour drive to the relatives. who lived "in the boonies".
Two questions are always on my mind when I travel:
1. What is this place/city/region/country really like?
2. What would it be like to live here for a while, rather than merely visit?
The UrbanImmersions.com blog is all about trying to answer those questions, and share what I learn with my readers. When I arrive, wherever I go, I try to take ownership of the thoughts, feelings and impressions that I experience. What do we do for fun here? How do we get our news? How do we greet each other on the street...or do we? Are coffee-houses popular? What are the best museums? How do we get around? What are the popular foods? What are the popular restaurants? Who are the influencers, the celebrity, the politicians? It's not a scientific approach: I'm more of an adventure/researcher. Read a bit and let me know what you think.
